Primary Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Fosters a day to day and long-term environment around the WNT
  • Works with the head coach and the staff
  • Builds a culture around the team with the head coach and staff
  • Continues to evolve the Style of Play, team tactical principles, and positional profiles together with the head coach
  • Collaborates with the head coach on creating the player depth chart
  • Communicates and works with the Sport Development Departments
  • Commits to the vision, mission, objectives, strategies, and policies of U.S. Soccer
Creates, executes and monitors a long-term technical plan aligned with U.S. Soccer’s Sport Development Programs
  • Creates a Style of Play for the WNT
  • Creates a long-term performance plan
  • Manages the current, and builds the future player pool with the head coach
  • Builds a culture within and around the team with the head coach
  • Creates team standards, camp processes, and protocols
 Creates partnerships and builds networks
  • Communicates regularly with clubs and coaches (domestic and international)
  • Communicates regularly with domestic professional leagues
  • Communicates and interacts with stakeholders from membership, media, donors, sponsors, etc.
  • Communicates and interacts with the other Sport Development Departments
  • Fosters a culture of open communication, collaboration, and sense of belonging (internally and externally)
Builds, leads, and evaluates the team behind the team
  • Hires the head coach
  • Hires the technical staff with the head coach
  • Selects the high performance staff with the Director of High Performance and the head coach
  • Communicates with the head coach and all staff on a regular basis
  • Fosters a culture of open communication, collaboration, and sense of belonging
Manages the day-to-day activities around the team
  • Executes daily decisions in accordance to team standards, camp processes, protocols, etc.
  • Guides and mentors players
  • Supports camps
  • Creates a forum for feedback, analysis, reflection, and discussion before and after each camp
Leads the planning of National Team activity
  • Plans the WNT calendar (camps, games, etc.) in accordance with the FIFA calendar
Leads the creation, implementation and evaluation of performance programs
  • Analyzes team and individual player performance
  • Works with the High Performance Department to create an elite performance environment
  • Tracks individual and team performance with the Analytics Department
  • Provides detailed reports on individual players and team performance
Leads oneself and the process
  • Represents the WNT internally and externally (staff meetings, Board of Director meetings, etc.)
  • Strives to be a leader

  • Embodies U.S. Soccer culture, behaviors, and beliefs
  • Empowers others
  • Reflects on performance related to the tasks of the role
  • Understands and develops personal learning needs and development goals
Minimum Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of the sport (team tactical principles, profiles, styles of play, etc.) and able to clearly articulate this knowledge to others
  • Experience working for a club or federation in a non-coaching technical leadership role
  • Familiarity with the soccer landscape in the U.S. with a specific understanding of the domestic professional game
  • Understanding of the current pool of U.S. players and the ability to compare/contrast them against the international benchmark
  • Desire to lead and work in a collaborative environment with the head coach and U.S. Soccer’s other technical leaders
Desired Qualifications
  • U.S. Soccer Pro License (or UEFA equivalent)
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
